LOL JR!
It was a fun game, one of the strangest I've ever been in to be honest, and definitely an eye-opening game in many, many ways.
First, I am just glad that you knew the rules as well as you did. As you could see, the rest of us are still getting up to speed with the new ed.
On the subject of scorpions... they're AWESOME for horde-type armies (some IG, some ork, some 'nid), but they aren't that great against marines and such (or rather, Eldar have better choices against them, I feel). Remember Thursday night, they had JUST set down on the table when we had to call the game. Had you been able to see what they were capable of, I bet you might have prepared differently for the Saturday night game.
Damn... that was a LOT of IG, dudes.

Lots of tanks, and STILL tons of infantry.
It was a strange game because for the first 2 turns, we were getting pummeled. John mentioned it, as did I, as one of my Guardian squads was wiped out, and my other Guardian squad was almost wiped-out, before we really were able to move much onto the board!
The Triple Las-Cannon-of-death-squad wiping out a Wraithlord in a single firing phase was impressive. I mean, very, very cool.
Your guys's scouts did really well, especially the Stormtroopers. They ALMOST really ruined our day!!!!!
Close Combat was brutal, though, especially since IG doesn't seem to have a lot of troop types that are strong in it. Once we are able to meet up troops face-to-face, it became a bloody field on your side, too, which almost matched the craters you left on our side!

I fully give credit for the CC goodness to my dice. I couldn't seem to hit crap from range, but in CC, I bet I hit 80%+ of the time, which is just insane.
Your artillery rolls were awesome. I still think you hit 50% of the time, easy. And I distinctly remember several of your scatters being less than 5's, which meant like 1-2" scatters even when you didn't roll the "Hit"! Bad for us, good for you, but awesome rolling all around!
I had an awesome time. I apologize if I came across as irritable or grumpy towards anyone - it was extremely hot in the gaming area, and then I went home that evening and discovered I had a bit of a fever. I thought it was just bad AC in the game room! HA!
The good news for you JR is that when we get a chance to play again, I'll likely have my NON-NEON Scorpions on the table.
Thanks to you, John, and Dan for a great game. And to Todd for the game the night before, and to you and John for the game Thursday night. I definitely had a nice 40K kick over the convention!
