The Dawn of Defiance campaign I am running will officially begin on January 14th at the store around 6pm. We are using the Saga Edition system and will be playing a published campaign. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to write up my own and the DoD campaign seems pretty good by all accounts.

What is the Dawn of Defiance campaign?

The Dawn of Defiance campaign is a series of 10 downloadable adventures using the Saga Edition rules. The adventures can be played individually, but when played in order, they form a complete campaign with a story arc that takes players from 1st level to 20th level.

What time period is the campaign set in?

The Dawn of Defiance campaign is set during the period between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Exact dates for the campaign are left vague so that Gamemasters can set the adventures in any portion of that era they choose. However, the campaign makes some basic assumptions, including that the first adventure begins just a few months after the end of the Clone Wars.

What kinds of characters work best in the Dawn of Defiance campaign?

Since the Dawn of Defiance campaign is designed to provide the iconic Star Wars experience, it focuses on fighting the tyranny of the evil Galactic Empire. Characters with Imperial sympathies may find it difficult to participate, but GMs should be able to tailor the adventures to work with almost any type of group. Otherwise, any heroic character that has not succumbed to the dark side will flourish in the Dawn of Defiance campaign.

On the 14th we'll be creating characters. I have all the necessary books and some indexes and such to hopefully make the process go more smoothly. After deciding character classes and races it might be good if we talk a little bit about the ideas you have for your character like what does the character hope to accomplish and what are his/her motivations.

We'll then hold the first session on January 28th.

Character creation:

For ability scores, I would like everyone to use the "Planned Generation" or "Point Buy" system in the Saga Edition Core book on page 18, which uses the following point costs:

8 = 0 points
9 = 1 points
10 = 2 points
11 = 3 points
12 = 4 points
13 = 5 points
14 = 6 points
15 = 8 points
16 = 10 points
17 = 13 points
18 = 16 points

You have 25 points to spend.

All species from all Saga Edition books are allowed as are classes/talents/feats/etc. However, I do not want any wannabe Sith Lords or darksiders. This is a game for heroes.
